Million Dollar Band Stops in Dothan Before BCS National Championship

Dothan, AL - Six buses. Eight hundred miles. Fifteen hours.

That's what it will take to get the 400 plus members of the University of Alabama's Million Dollar Band to the BCS National Championship game. They stopped in Dothan Friday afternoon on their way to Miami.

"It's really exciting. We've practiced a lot," said sophomore band member Chelsei Nowling.

"I'm so excited. It is surreal to get to go to the national championship two years in a row," said sophomore band member Andrew Stadler.

Many of the band's seniors have three trips to the big game under their belt. They say nothing can compare to the atmosphere.

"Everyone is just going crazy. It's amazing. The feeling is very great," said band member Desmond Rudd.

"It's hard to describe. It's so intense. It's so loud," said Stadler.

While freshman Austin Woods may not know what the atmosphere will be like, he's counting on a roll tide win.

" I know I'm just excited to get there and get in the stands. I'm really ready to sing the alma mater at the end of the game," said Woods.

This isn't just a big year for the Alabama football team with back-to-back national championship trips.

This is the centennial season for the million dollar band.

"Wouldn't be anything better than to end the centennial year than with a crimson tide win," said band director Dr. Ken Ozzello.

The band will arrive in Miami later Friday night just in time for the fanfare to begin.

The game is kicks off at 7:30 Monday night on ESPN.
