Dothan, AL - Studies show that men are less likely to go to the doctor than women. That's why the Southeast Alabama Medical Center set up a free health fair Saturday morning to help men stay on top of their well being.
The event included free blood, cholesterol and body mass index tests, as well as a stroke assessment, just to name a few.
Former Auburn University and NFL punter, Lewis Colbert, was the spokesman for the event.
He spoke about personal health struggles and how the best medicine is early detection.
"When my brother passed away a few years ago I started getting serious about it. I realized I need to take better care of myself. I got checked. It just so happened I was heading down the same road," said Colbert.
Since improving his eating and exercise habits as well as using medication, Colbert has a clean bill of health.
This was the 21st men's health fair sponsored by SAMC.
