Houston County, AL - The intersection of Drew and Cowarts Roads is now closed.
A two million dollar road project is underway. It's all to ensure good traffic flow from the Medical College.
The first step is a diversion of Cowarts Road onto Drew Road. That will lead to Highway 84.
The second step will be a boulevard from Highway 84 into the Medical College campus.
"The diversion of Cowarts Road onto Drew Road we think will be very beneficial to those coming from the Cowarts and Eastern Houston County area. They'll still end up on 84. Turn right and head on in to town," said Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver.
The road is expected to be closed to through traffic for the next 6 weeks.
