MONTGOMERY, Ala. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) today announced the event dates and locations of her upcoming “Martha Listens” Town Hall Tour, a series of meetings throughout Alabama’s Second Congressional District meant to give constituents an opportunity to voice their concerns and ask questions about issues important to them.
“People are so tired of politicians just talking at them. I want to use this valuable time with constituents as an opportunity to listen to their concerns and better understand what’s important to them,” Rep. Roby said.
“My message to those I represent is: whether it’s a specific problem you’re having with the federal government, general frustration over how Washington is working, or a new idea you want to share, come talk to me about it. My job is to listen and understand your concerns so I can be a better voice for you in Congress.”
The “Martha Listens” tour comes with its very own “hashtag” - #MarthaListens - to provide for easier sharing on social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter. Tweets and Facebook posts during the tour will include the searchable tag #MarthaListens, and constituents unable to physically attend an event can use social media to join the conversation.
A complete list of events is below, and is also available online at http://roby.house.gov/upcomingevents. In addition to the town hall events, which are forums open to the public, Rep. Roby has several other scheduled August and September meetings with local civic clubs, farmers, and military personnel throughout Alabama's Second Congressional District. Media will be advised of coverage opportunities.
