Man Gets Life Sentence For Setting Wife on Fire

APOLLO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa Bay area man has been
sentenced to life in prison for setting his estranged wife on fire,
leaving her severely burned.

A Hillsborough County judge sentenced 46-year-old Christopher
Hanney on Friday. He was convicted in January of attempted murder,
aggravated battery and arson.

Hanney's wife, 29-year-old Audrey Mabrey, had moved out of the
couple's Apollo Beach home but stopped by in November 2009.
Prosecutors said Hanney doused his wife with gasoline and set her
on fire because she was divorcing him.

An attorney for the former New York City detective argued that
Mabrey and an unknown accomplice attacked Hanney, and Mabrey was accidentally burned during the attack.
