Man Arrested After Crashing Sheriff's Parking Lot

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities in the Florida Panhandle say a drunk driver crashed his car through a sheriff's substation parking lot before heading to a nearby bar.

Deputies say that the man sped through the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Destin substation parking lot early Monday, hitting parking signs, palm trees, a flag pole and other objects.

Deputies caught up with the man close to the nearby McGuires Irish Pub. The 27-year-old Fort Walton Beach man was charged with driving under the influence, careless or negligent driving and leaving the scene of a traffic crash with property damage.
