A Midland City man is accused of assaulting a police officer, after being arrested on domestic violence charges.
Deputies say Royal Eugene Hogan was taken to the Dale County Jail on Thursday.
While being transferred to a holding cell, authorities say Hogan attacked a Newton police officer who was dealing with another inmate.
The officer received minor injuries. Hogan remains in the Dale County Jail.
