Man Wanted for Three Murders Arrested in Troy

The man wanted for the murder of three people in Florida is in police custody.

Derrick Ray Thompson, 41, was found and arrested in Troy early Tuesday morning.

Bay County Sheriff’s investigators say Thompson is considered a person of interest in the murder of Bay County businessman Allen Johnson.

Johnson was found shot to death in his home on Wilson Avenue Monday afternoon.

Thompson is also a person of interest in a double homicide that happened in Milton, FL, on Sunday. The bodies of Steven and Debra Zackowski were found in their mobile home in Milton, which launched the initial search for Thompson by Santa Rosa County deputies.

He was reportedly spotted in Bay County, but no other sign of him until Johnson’s body was found Monday. Thompson’s vehicle was found at Johnson’s home when deputies arrived Monday afternoon, and Johnson’s truck was missing.

Johnson is well known as the owner of the Toy Box and Show-N-Tail adult clubs. He also worked as an investigator with the Bay County Sheriff’s office in the 1960’s and 70’s, but left to open his adult businesses. The Show-N-Tail burned down in 2006, and after years of legal issues, the former strip club reopened as a bikini nightclub in 2012 in Panama City Beach.
