A Lee County jury found 48-year-old Robert Dunn guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder, armed burglary and child abuse. He faces a possible death sentence.
The News-Press reports that 36-year-old Christine Lozier-Dunn had filed for divorce in 2007. Prosecutors say Dunn went to the day care where Lozier-Dunn worked in January 2008 after learning about a $70-a-week wage garnishment for child support. Dunn shot Lozier-Dunn twice with a recently purchased gun as she hid in a bathroom.
Defense attorneys argued for a lesser charge of manslaughter, saying Dunn was drunk when he arrived at the day care and accidentally shot his wife during a struggle with another parent.
