Man Dies After Being Beaten at Jacksonville Party

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A man is being held in a Duval County jail on a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a 19-year-old who was beaten at a party.

Jail records show 25-year-old Christopher Hoffman is being held without bail. It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Ryan Scott Ford was with a large group early Saturday at a bonfire party when several fights broke out.

Reports say officers responded to reports of an injured person who had been taken to the hospital. Witnesses said Ford became unconscious after being punched several times. He died a short time later.
