44-year-old Christopher D. Wood was arrested at approximately 10:55 a.m Thursday, July 3rd on charges of electronic solicitation of a child, and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act.
Wood is reported to be having a conversation through text messaging with who he thought was a 15 year old girl. On the text messages, Wood allegedly detailed sexual acts he wished to perform on the 15 year old. The purported 15 year old girl was actually an undercover Daleville Police Investigator.
Wood then allegedly agreed to meet whom he believed was a 15 year old girl in Clayhatchee. When Wood arrived in a pre-arranged meeting location he was arrested.
Wood was then transported to the Daleville City Jail and will shortly be transferred to the Dale County Jail. Once transported to the Dale County Jail, a photograph of the suspect can be obtained.
Wood has stated he was an active duty lieutenant colonel in the United States Army on military leave. He is not assigned to Fort Rucker.
He will be given a first appearance tomorrow at the Dale County Court House.
The matter is still under investigation.
