On December 19, 2013 officers with the Dothan Police Department made contact with Ricardo Salmon during a traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Alice Street.
During that encounter, Salmon was found to be in possession of counterfeit United States currency.
Salmon was detained and advised he was being placed under arrest, then seated on the curb as the officers continued their field investigation.
While seated, Salmon stood up and ran off, in an attempt to escape.
After a short foot pursuit, officers caught Salmon, to which a struggle ensued.
During that struggle, Salmon used his head to strike one of the officers in the face, resulting in that officer suffering moderate facial injuries.
Salmon was taken into custody for a second time and walked back to a patrol unit.
As one of the officers’s opened the door of his patrol vehicle to place Salmon inside, Salmon attempted to escape for a second time by pulling away from the officer and running off again.
Officers immediately caught and regained control of Salmon then transported him to the Dothan City Jail.
Ricardo Alwayne Salmon, black male, 28 years of age, of West Inez Road was arrested and charged with first degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, second degree Assault, as well as Escape first and second degrees.
Bonds for all four charges have been set and total $600,000.00.
All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
