Man Arrested After Altercation with Wife in Ga.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that John Fanning was arrested early Friday.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department says Fanning was involved in a fight with his wife at a home on Bold Springs Road.

Fanning is accused of hitting his wife with a table and table leg in the presence of children, preventing her from calling for help.

Fanning faces charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault, cruelty to children and interfering with a call for emergency assistance.

Fanning, the son of former Gwinnett County commissioner Shirley Lasseter, was sentenced last month to nearly five years in prison stemming from a bribery charge.
