Man Arrested for Attempted Assault and Domestic Violence

On October 9, 2013 the Dothan Police Department responded to the intersection of Hodgesville Road and West Inez Road in reference to a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the victims car was ran off the road and into a tree by one of the occupant’s boyfriend, Lance Widner.

Investigators say the incident was the result of an earlier argument between Widner and his girlfriend, which began at a home outside of the Dothan city limits. The girlfriend left the home, by vehicle, with two of her friends, when Widner got into his vehicle, a 1996 Ford Mustang, and began chasing them.

As the victim’s vehicle turned from Hodgesville Road on to West Inez Road, Widner hit the rear of that vehicle, forcing it off the road and into a tree. Widner then went to the victim’s vehicle, where his girlfriend willingly exited and left the scene with him. The remaining two occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released.

Widner and the victim were located a short time later on North Brannon Stand Road. The victim was not harmed and Widner was arrested on charges of Domestic Violence and Assault.

Lance Winder, white male, 23 years of age, of Dee Clark Road was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree Attempted Assault and one count of first degree Domestic Violence. A bond amount will be set at a later time. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
