Dothan City School officials have decided not to eliminate magnet schools and will now move in a new direction.
Dothan City School Superintendent Tim Wilder's plan was to replace magnet schools with neighborhood schools.
But, according to an e-mail sent out by wilder, public opposition prevents the plan from moving forward.
Officials will now focus on strengthening the existing middle school system.
A meeting is set for April 8th at Honeysuckle Middle School.
