It's calm before the storm for local American Red Cross volunteers Jack Kehler and Mike Gilley. The pair is on a mission to drive some 18 hours in two days to help with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

"We'll be serving meals and uhh...snacks, water, coffee. Anything like that that somebody uhh... could make use of." Meals that can't come soon enough for families who've lost nearly everything in the wake of this powerful storm.

These two men are heading to New Jersey now but this isn't the first time they've fired up the truck to help others.

"Started out in 1999...went to Tennessee tornados and quite and eye opening experience..really enjoyed it...the feeling of helping some people out." As they head right into chaos they don't know what will await them.

"You always wonder what you're going into." But they do know their help is greatly needed.

I'm just anxious to get up there...and just do what the Red Cross does up there. I'm just fortunate to be able to do something like this." Fortunate because he knows at the height of Hurricane season...anything can happen.

"It means the world to me...uh..who knows it just may be turned the other way in the future and I just pray that somebody'd be able to help me." A prayer that this team is answering right now for others.
