A local state of Emergency has been declared in Washington County.

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners and the Emergency Management Department recognizes the urgency of protecting and providing for the safety and welfare of its citizens.
Tropical Storm Karen is expected to make landfall along the Gulf Coast on Sunday, Oct. 6 and bring heavy rain and sustained winds between 30 and 40 mph, resulting in dangerous conditions for residents and infrastructure.
The State of Emergency exists in Washington County will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 and will remain in effect until all threats have past.
