Thanks to the help of a local group...pets at the Dothan Animal Shelter will now be able to cool off while they're waiting to be adopted.
Saturday, Animal Services with the Dothan Police Department recognized a local resident, Elsie Campbell.

She started the "Red Retriever" Program fundraiser that managed to bring in 20-thousand dollars.
That money will go towards a new air conditioning unit for the shelter.
Campbell decided to raise the money not only to help keep the animals cool off, but to help with adoption rates.
"We used to see these little cats hanging out because they were so hot and we knew we had to do something. It's morally right, it is right and we did it and our Red Retrievers did it. They started it and I thank you Red Retrievers," said Campbell.
The "Red Retriever" Program is already working on their next project so if you would like to get involved or want more information, just stop by the Dothan Animal Shelter.
