A local group will award area students scholarships this week.
This Friday (Jan. 25th) the (IMALC) Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance Leadership Coalition is holding the MLK/Rochester Johnson Scholarship Banquet.
The recipients are deserving youth in the community and some are chosen through an essay contest.
It's at First Missionary Baptist church in Dothan.
It starts at 7 p.m.
"We know that a lot young kids do not have the opportunity to go to school. it's very expensive now to go to school books are in the upper 100's of dollars just to get books for school, that's why we do it," said IMALC President Jemmie Watford.
Tickets are $25 and that money will go towards the next scholarship banquet.
