(Niceville, FL) Dr. Olivier Broutin of Bluewater Bay Dental was recently awarded Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) during the Convocation ceremony held at the AGD’s Annual Meeting and Exposition in Detroit, Michigan.
Less than 2 percent of all general dentists have earned the Academy Mastership Award. Since 1952 when the AGD was founded only 2,200 dentist have gone on to receive a Mastership Award.
The Mastership Award is the highest honor available in the AGD and one of the most respected designations in the profession. This accomplishment meets the highest criteria for professional excellence. The award symbolizes the professional responsibility of general dentists to remain current in their profession and reminds each member of the dental profession to continue to learn new information for the benefit of their patients.
To accomplish this award, Dr. Broutin completed 1,100 hours of continuing dental education in the 16 disciplines of dentistry, including 400 hours dedicated to hands-on skills and techniques. Dr. Broutin successfully completed a written exam after the first 500 hours of continuing education to attain Fellowship status, and then over the next 5 years presented various cases of his own work in the different disciplines to a panel of dentists.
"I am humbled and honored to have achieved this milestone in my career," says Dr. Broutin of Bluewater Bay Dental. “When a dentist has achieved the Mastership Award, patients can be assured that their dentist is dedicated to providing the finest care in general dentistry.”
A general dentist who is a "Master" in the Academy (MAGD) is recognized by other general dentists as a leader who is committed to quality patient care through continuing education, and has completed a structured and rigorous set of requirements involving all the disciplines of dental and oral medicine. Challenging themselves to attain Mastership allows dentists to remain current with what is new in dentistry, to incorporate the most proven and beneficial techniques into their practices and network with other leaders in the field.
