The first Monday of every June has been named Linemen Appreciation Day in Alabama.

Monday morning, the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative held a luncheon to say thanks to their linemen.

The linemen's families were also in attendance.

The ceremony honored the 30 lineman which cover 3,000 miles of electrical lines.

Lineman say its a dangerous job but someone has to do it.

"The day that we had a pole fall on me and another fella it is one of the most memorable days because it is just what pops in my mind every time I get on a pole we had come so close to being done away with that day and both of us made it," said Bill Cobb, lineman.

Representative Paul Lee and Representative Donnie Chesteen were also in Hartford to say thanks.
