Limited Severe Weather Threat Through Early Morning; Watch Unlikely

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to increase across the area, and a few of these storms could become severe. However, a major threat is not expected, forecasters say.

Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center say that some of these storms could produce isolated straight-line wind damage and possibly a brief tornado.

The areas that could potentially see this include Southeast Alabama, Southwestern Georgia, and the Florida panhandle.

However, there is only a 20% chance of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch or Tornado Watch being issued at this time due to what forecasters call “the limited nature of the threat.”

But, again, a few strong or possibly severe thunderstorms can not be completely ruled out.
