"Late" Geneva Co. Sheriff Honored


A section of Highway 52 between Hartford and Geneva is renamed for the "late" Sheriff J.C. Woodham.  He was killed in August, 1957 after stopping two men who had just robbed a Hartford hospital of its drug supply.

Several law enforcement officers set up along Highway 54 east of Eureka.

Part of a wiregrass highway is renamed in honor of a fallen sheriff.
The section of highway 52 between Geneva and Hartford ... Is now "J.C. Woodham Highway".
It's in honor of the late Geneva County Sheriff J.C. Woodham.
He was killed in the line of duty in 1957.
Sheriff Woodham's daughter and current Sheriff Greg Ward took part in the sign unveiling.
