Judge Delays Trial of Teacher Charged with Sex Crime

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- A judge has delayed the trial of a northwest Alabama educator accused of having sex with a student.

Kimberly Bynum of Russellville was set to go on trial in December on a charge of being a school employee engaged in sex with a student younger than 19.

A court has now delayed the case until Feb. 4.

Reports say the 30-year-old Bynum taught mathematics at Vina High School in Franklin County. She was arrested in June 2011.

Bynum is fighting the charge. Her trial has been delayed repeatedly since she was indicted more than a year ago.
