This is the sight many saw when they first walked in.
Intimidating at first, but a step in the right direction
"I’m here today trying to land something to get the job just like all these other people." Job seeker Matt Rutledge said.
"I’ve been trying to look for a job on and off daily. It’s a daily job to find a job." Job seeker Melvin Ion said.
Just like the other two to three thousand people who came in search of their next career,
Rutledge was tired of applying for a job, and not hearing anything.
“It’s real difficult, I’ve done a lot and online and its real difficult trying to get someone to call you back.” Rutledge said.
But the job fair wasn't only for civilians.
“Today I’m here because I’m looking to get out of the military. I’ll be transitioning in January.” U-S Army Captain Eden Keene said.
Keene says trying to find a job after military life can be difficult.
But there was a lot of aviation jobs there that would cater to members of the military.
“This is the home of army aviation so we have a lot of people that are transitioning that are skilled in those professions not just the maintenance side but the aviation side.” Keene said.
Keene and many others hope their first impression was enough to land them a job.
And many of the employers I spoke to today say the first impression is very important, but those people who follow up with them after the job fair leave an even better impression.
