DOTHAN, AL--Tuesday city commissioners voted to begin phase one.
Phase one involves having a company create the design and layout.

They have agreed to enter into an agreement with Lose and Associates, INC.

The design is estimated to cost more than $365,000.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to see this park possibly come into fruition in the near future, I think sometimes it's misunderstood that our leisure services facilities act as an economic development engine for our city when nothing else does expect possibly retail shopping," said District 5 Commissioner Taylor Barbaree.

The park will be located between Campbellton Highway and Taylor Road.

The current plan includes a 6-field little league complex and a 6-field girls softball complex.
