JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A 17-year-old girl was critically injured when a van drove through an intersection and crashed into her bedroom.

Jacksonville police say the girl was sleeping early Monday when the van struck her family's single-story home.

The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/PovSY1 ) reports the girl was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital in what officials described as life-threatening condition. The driver was also taken to the hospital.

Detective Robert Peck told the newspaper investigators will be looking at whether alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Police say the roads were not wet at the time of the crash.

No further details were immediately available.
