The American Advertising Awards (formerly called the ‘ADDY’) is the advertising industry's competition, attracting entries every year in local AAF Club (Ad Club) competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

The Jackson County tourism website, which promotes tourism in Jackson County, including information on lodging, ecotourism, history and events, received an ‘ADDY’ award from the American Advertising Federation last week.

With the predominant portion of tourism resulting from web searches, Jackson County hired Chipley public relations firm The Goulding Agency, Inc. early this year to improve search performance of their website through photo and video production, and the firm is working on improving the website through the use of visitor-friendly maps, information and a series of video productions highlighting the Florida Caverns, special events, cave diving and other local areas of interest.

‘Rural tourism is on the rise with more visitors wanting to see a region, not just one location’, Jackson County TDC Director Pam Fuqua says. ‘I am very pleased with the product. I constantly receive compliments on it and it's rewarding to hear’.

Vice president Debbie Goulding says, ‘This was a great opportunity to put a spotlight on an area rich in heritage, attractions and quality of life. From the Florida Caverns to the scenic Chipola River, from history to heritage events, Jackson County has much to offer’.

‘We anticipate a great finished project, based on the video footage and photos we have already been able to get’, Goulding continues, ‘and we appreciate our relationship with Jackson County in helping to make this happen’.

The firm has become best known for the promotion of what they call ‘The Real Florida’, that area of northwest Florida roughly encompassing Jackson, Washington, Holmes, Bay and Calhoun counties.

Pam Fuqua says, ‘It looks like 2014 will bring in more visitors (to Jackson County) thanks to The Goulding Agency and their promotional expertise’.
