Next month wounded veterans will be putting their pedals to the pavement in Enterprise.
All thanks to the 11th annual Boll Weevil 100 bike ride.
Today the Enterprise Lions Club recognized the JROTC of Enterprise High School as a way to say thank you for contributing to the event.
The students were able to raise more than $1,000.
That will cover one wounded warrior’s bike and event fees for the entire Boll Weevil 100.
JROTC Enterprise High School Matthew Maynard said, “A lot of us are kids of military people and we know people that have been injured. My father himself is a purple heart recipient. I’ve been there and I know what it is like. I know a lot of people that have been injured and even discharged from the Army. And this kind of thing means a lot to them.”
The event promotes cycling as a form of rehab for wounded veterans. The JROTC will be on hand at the Boll Weevil 100 May 11th to help.
