J.F. Shields Tops Sunshine at South Regional Tournament

The J.F. Shields Boys Basketball Team jumped on Sunshine early in Wednesday's 1A Regional Semifinal game at the Dothan Civic Center. The Panthers never looked back, leading 20-12 after the first quarter and rolling to a 72-59 victory.

With the win, J.F. Shields advanced to face Brantley in the 1A Regional Final on Saturday. Sunshine ends the season with a 12-12 record.

The Panthers opened the game with a flurry off 3-pointers, hitting four triples in the first quarter. Although J.F. Shields cooled off slightly from downtown the rest of the way, the Panthers still shot nearly 51 percent from the field.

RaeDamon McCreary had 21 points to lead J.F. Shields, ahead of 17 from Johnny Stallworth and 12 from Tyran Nettles.

Sunshine's season came to an end despite a huge game from forward Cletrell Pope. The sophomore forward had 25 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards in the losing effort.
