GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) -- Tourists and locals alike are delighting in a 1923 shipwreck unearthed on an Alabama beach after Hurricane Isaac struck the region last month.
The schooner Rachel grounded on the beach at Fort Morgan after a storm similar to Isaac pounded the Gulf Coast almost 90 years ago.
The Rachel was first uncovered by Hurricane Camille back in 1969. She has been uncovered and recovered by storms since then.
Historians say Isaac has uncovered more of the ship than seen before. Locals say it is likely the wreck will be covered up with sand again because of the risk her rusted iron skeleton and splintered wood poses to beachgoers.
