One organization has a clear future in store for the youth of Alabama.
Impact Alabama’s "Focus First" initiative made its way to two local Wiregrass schools today.
The program’s goal is to provide early detection to children in urban and rural areas.
Children ages 6 months to 5 years old are eligible for the screenings.
"Ten percent of children have undetected vision problems so that's one of the biggest reasons why we try to go out and the community and do these free vision screenings for them so that way we can detect and help them find the right care that they need to perform the best that they can in school, " said Focus First vision screenings employee Deasia McNeal.
Impact Alabama’s "Focus First" initiative is celebrating reaching 200,000 screens since their start in 2004.
