Your wallet might be feeling the pinch when the economy is no good.
But imagine juggling your own bills and budgeting for an entire city.
That's the reality for Houston County Commissioners right now.
Still, they say big projects are on the agenda.
Chairman Mark Culver said, “We've got road issues we've got dirt road issues we've got requests for funding for economic development projects and library and all those things need to be done.”
A need, but Culver says sometimes the money just isn't there to make it happen.
Still he says the outcome with the budget, is looking better than years past.
Culver said, "Revenues have been somewhat better this year, we certainly aren't back in position we were in 2006- 2007 as far as available funds but things are looking better."
Relief might be on the way. Melinda Mcclendon is set to be sworn in to replace Phil Forrester’s District Four Seat. Forrester passed away in March.
Mcclendon says she doesn't have a game plan coming into it, but knows the most important voices she can listen for are the constituents.
Mcclendon said,” There’s a lot of things going on in this community that the community doesn't really know about. I don't think we really tell our story well enough and that's what I do as a profession, so I hope to bring that to the table as well.”
Bringing road repairs, fixing parking lots and doing it all on a budget...to the table
