Houston County officials say they want out of the trash business.
The county currently has about 46 dumpsters at different locations.
Those include schools, the sheriff's office and other county buildings.
They say the plan is to remove about 40 of them.
"We're not really geared to handle dumpsters, so it's really an issue where we need to get in the dumpster business or out of it and it's just cheaper on us to get out of it basically," said Houston County Engineer Barkley Kirkland.
The dumpsters will remain at the schools through September.
Officials say they will eventually sale them.
