Money from the Alabama Law Enforcement agency will help the Houston County Sheriff's Department keep you more safe.
Sheriff Andy Hughes received a $60,000 grant today from State Representative Paul Lee of Dothan.
It will help the agency during disaster situations, terrorist attacks, and deploying deputies to other parts of the state.
"We are purchasing some technology to help us further our aviation mission, and our aviation assets which is shared by Houston County and Dale County and serves all of region two and all of the state of Alabama," said Sheriff Andy Hughes.
The department plans to make the equipment upgrades at the beginning of next year.
