Houston County commissioners approved the change Monday
Officials say the road will be affected from midland city all the way to Florida line.
Culver

"The road the state is taking over will start at midland city in Houston county it becomes Brannon stand road which is county road 59 all the way down to Rehoboth and from Rehoboth south all the way to 231 which is highway 203, all of that will be one road now. It will be a state road. The Brannon stand portion won’t change name or number but the rest will be changed."

Culver signed the approval documents today.
The next step is for Governor Robert Bentley to sign them.
Once the change is official, residents living along the road will be notified.
There aren't any plans to change the speed limit.
