Houston County Commissioners Honor Law Enforcement for National Police Week

Houston County Commissioners are making sure they honor local law enforcement for National Police Week.

Commissioners made a point to honor Houston County Sheriff and Hughes and other law enforcement officers during their meeting today.

They presented Hughes with a certificate and Hughes gave a speech thanking the commission and community for all they do.

"We don't do this job to be honored for, we don't do this job to be recognized for it, we do this job because it's our calling, it's what we are put on this earth to do but it is nice to be recognized."

It is also National Corrections Officers Week.
