Houston County Sheriff's Office identifies suspect in Ashford standoff as Michael Clayton McNeil. Authorities shot and killed McNeil following a nearly four-hour standoff on Whittaker road in Ashford.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes says McNeil threatened to shoot authorities during the standoff. McNeil was shot and killed when he pointed a loaded gun at authorities.

UPDATE - 4:47 p.m.

Houston County Sheriff's Office confirms the suspect is dead in a standoff in Ashford. Authorities shot and killed the suspect, following a nearly four-hour standoff on Whittaker Road.

The suspects name has not been released at this time.

UPDATE - 4:25 p.m.

ASHFORD, AL -- A standoff in southern Houston County is over. Authorities report a man who barricaded himself inside an Ashford home is dead.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the standoff on Whittaker Road in Ashford. The man in question was believed to be wanted on domestic violence charges.

ASHFORD, AL -- Houston County Deputies are involved in a stand off. Deputies are on the scene of a barricaded gunman south of Ashford.

Officials say the incident is related to an arrest warrant for a domestic charge.
