Homeless Stand Down Preps Underway

Preparations are underway for Saturday's (11-17) Homeless Stand-Down in Dothan.

Volunteers spent the morning sorting and organizing donated items.
The event will provide clothing, shoes, hygiene products and food to the homeless.

Organizers say they're pleased with the amount of items they received from the community.

"It was actually better than what we've gotten so far. This is our 4th year doing this. The donations so far is actually better than before. the community actually stepped up to support the event," said Russell Clausell, President Southeast Alabama Coalition for the Homeless.

Organizers say they're expecting to help 100 to 200 people.

The event is at the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center.
It starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.
