Home Invasion Robbery

Long-time residents of Dixie Drive used to never double check their doors at night.

"It's really scary. I’m really scared—thought we was in a pretty safe neighborhood,” said Bernita Beckwith.

Dothan police say there was a home invasion robbery around 3am this morning. The couple was going about their daily exercise when they were allegedly ambushed and assaulted.

"The patrol men, after receiving this information did locate the suspect vehicle, which had been stolen from the residents. They got into a brief vehicle pursuit, during which the suspects crashed that vehicle and fled from the wreckage," said Sergeant Rachel David of the Dothan Police Department.

The suspects haven't been caught and neighbors are now worried.

"You feel like, you are living right next to where it be happening...it could have been me," said Kenneth Calloway.

Residents of Dixie Drive are now trying to think of other alternatives to keep themselves and their families out of danger.

"Well uh they have been breaking in here quite a lot lately and um you know I don't know what we are going to do about it,” said Freddie Calloway.

Some residents already made changes.

"Well a couple months ago, my house got broken into but what I did was got a stronger door. Now I am thinking about adding more security—getting a security system put on," said Kenneth Calloway.

Police describe the suspects as 3 black males still on the run.

If anyone has any information on this case they are urged to call the Dothan Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 334-793-7000
