Highlands Elementary Holds 'Grandparents Tea'

Grandparents got a special treat at Highlands Elementary School Friday.

It was the 3rd annual "Grandparents Tea" for First graders.

The kids and their grandparents worked on crossword puzzles together, while enjoying tea and baked goods.

Organizers say teachers wanted to emphasize how important grandparents are to families and communities.

Grandparents say they are happy to be a part of the event.

"We wanted to see what our grandson was doing in school, see where he went to school and meet his teacher, this is great they should do this at every school," said grandparent Bill Voth.

The students later performed a song they prepared for their grandparents.
