Henry County is Thawing Out

Henry County is thawing.

Areas that have been in direct sunlight like this side of the fountain have already melted while areas in the shade like this other side are still icy.

And people are starting to come out of hiding.

“This is the first day I have been out in a few days.”

Henry County, like most of the Wiregrass, was hit by this snow storm.

“Just a few wrecks a few limbs down on power lines and in the roadways but like I said the personnel the police and fire and those people and the road department did an outstanding job clearing the roads and getting things back to normal.”

Officials say preparation was the key to keeping Henry County residents safe.

“We prepared for the worst and prepared well in advance and I think and I think we are very fortunate that we didn’t get more than we did.”

“I guess we were as prepared as we could be this is somewhat different than a hurricane or a tornado so it’s somewhat of a different response and your ability to get around but it think we did ok under the circumstances.”

And for a county that is not used to snow, residents were happy with everyone's efforts.

“We were fortunate to keep our power and stay warm.”
