MAPLESVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Severe storms have caused extensive
damage in the central Alabama town of Maplesville.
Town clerk Sheila Haigler says high winds hit about 5:30 a.m.,
damaging many buildings and knocking down several trees.
She says one tree fell on a storm shelter, but no one was injured. One
person was trapped in a heavily damaged home, but was rescued
safely.
She said police have not been able to search some areas because
trees and power lines are blocking roads.
Maplesville is 45 miles south of Birmingham.
