More than 50 students from Jarvis Ward's second grade class lined the streets waiting for his arrival. The community of Hartford wanted to give the eight-year-old, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, the biggest birthday Party he has ever had.

"We are so thankful, very thankful for everything that everyone is doing for us and we really appreciate it,” said sister, Latoya Ward.

Ward arrived at the fun zone in a limo where the party was held. His friends jumped in excitement waiting to celebrate this special day with him. The idea to have the party started just over a week ago, and volunteers who helped put the event together was overwhelmed with joy when they saw how many people came to support ward.

"I feel blessed to have been a part and to have had a small hand in helping with his birthday to make him smile to make him have a good day," said volunteer, Anthony Holtan.

Holtan along with Valerie Hall, the event organizer and several others held a fundraiser to collect enough money to pay for ward and his classmates to enjoy a day of skating at the fun zone.

"To know that we can be a part of that and that we can somehow make a difference in this little boys life is a huge deal and it makes me so proud to say that I work here and this is my job day in and day out," said Fun Zone worker, Kala Baker.

Ward was presented with several gifts including a signed football helmet from Alabama crimson tide football player, Trent Richardson. Wings in Daleville also provided ward with helicopter memorabilia. The ward family said they were thrilled with the turnout and were happy to see Jarvis with such a big smile on his face for his birthday.

Last year Alabama football player, Nico Johnson took ward on a shopping spree through the make a wish foundation.
