Changes come to a controversial gun bill.
Senate Bill 286 would allow workers to bring guns to their job, as long as they have a valid concealed carry permit or hunting license.
Some business owners showed concern and so did local law enforcement.
When Senator Scott Beason introduced the bill, it said, ‘The Sheriff Shall Issue a Permit’, not, ‘The Sheriff May Issue a Permit.’
This caused concern with law enforcement, who say if they're suspicious of a person's background, even if there's nothing in the criminal record, they don't feel like they should have to issue a permit.
