Dexter Grimsley and his campaign team attended the Houston County Democratic Party meeting and announced his campaign. The Abbeville native was elected in 2010.
He says there are many things on his political agenda, however, education remains a top priority.
"The major economic issue for our district right now is educating our young people, educating them and creating jobs here in southeast Alabama for them to have. If we can't educate, we can't find jobs in southeast Alabama until we come together, republican and democrats," Grimsley said. Infrastructure and interstates in the Wiregrass are some other topics on his agenda.
