Governor Bentley Approves Park Funding for Houston County

(Dothan, AL) –Governor Robert Bentley has approved a Land and Water Conservation Fund for three Parks in Houston County.

Dothan and Taylor will receive $50,000 and $15,000 will be given to Ashford. Taylor will match the state’s funding, by contributing $100,000.
Eastgate Park will use the funding to create a dog park and new restrooms.

Taylor Walking Trail will also be adding restrooms and a new splash pad. Ashford will be adding new playground equipment at Recreation Park.

LWCF program is a nationwide program that assists states with the development and preservation of outdoor recreational facilities. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is in charge of the grants.

Each city mayor has been notified by Bentley in writing of the approved grants.
