Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has sent a letter to President Obama seeking help with furloughs for some Alabama National Guard members.
Bentley wants the president to direct the Department of Defense to grant the State’s National Guard the authority to shift funds and avoid further furloughs of dual-status employees who work full-time for the guard during the week and train on the weekends.
Bentley says the furloughs are making an already-critical shortage of full-time staff worse.
The President has not yet responded.
