Geneva Representatives Brainstorm Symposium Marketing Tactics

The US China Manufacturing Symposium is not until March 2014, but one Wiregrass County is already preparing.

On Tuesday afternoon representatives from many Geneva towns met at the county court house to brainstorm the best way to market themselves to Chinese businesses.

“We lost all of our soil industries, county wide we lost over 3,000 and we never had anybody come back in and fill the void, of course now all of those people are too old to work and all that but the fact of the matter is they have children,” said Fred Hamic, Geneva County Probate Judge and County Chairman.

While jobs are needed, marketing materials are not come cheap, so the group is now looking into all of their options.

"I think it is really important just to get the experience and the exposure it’s not often that we have this many people in from out of town, we need to put our best foot out there for the region, showcase our workforce, the quality of life issues that we have and i think we all need to come together to support this effort," explained Jonathan Tullos, Executive Director of Wiregrass EDC.

Many of the representatives agreed that they want to make a lasting impression at the symposium. However, marketing material is costly, especially since translating costs can be rather high.

After an hour long meeting with many different marketing strategies presented, the group agreed to have another meeting prior to the symposium.
