Geneva County crews took advantage of the sunshine today, working to repair weather-damaged roads.
In July alone, Geneva County officials say they have received more than 21-inches of rain in some places. For the year, the county has received more than 50-inches.
On Geneva County Road 55, the pavement is buckling because of underground water.
“There is nothing we can do about the rain,” explained Justin Barfield, a Geneva County Engineer. “I ask the public to bear with us. We will get the roads fixed. It depends upon the weather.”
Barfield says this month, Geneva County has already experienced more than a half-million in road damage.
